Alan Hutton is attracting interest from Nottingham Forest, according to the Nottingham Post.

The right-back, who is contracted to the club until the end of the month, is reportedly in talks with the Reds and “positive discussions” are said to have taken place.

Steve Bruce is believed to be very keen to keep hold of the 33-year-old with the fullback prepared to take a pay cut to stay, but the club’s financial troubles are likely holding up any sort of contract offer.

Forest are looking to take advantage of the situation and the Nottingham Post say that they will offer the veteran a two-year deal.

The Scottish Cafu was at the top of his game last season, and it would be a shame to see him go, even it does seem inevitable considering the lack of money we have available.

It does appear likely at the moment that the Scot’s seven-year stay at Villa Park is coming to an end.
