Steve Bruce contacted West Ham on Sunday about signing striker Jordan Hugill on loan, according to the Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

QPR and Leeds United are also keeping tabs on the 26-year-old with each club keen on bringing in the target man before the end of the transfer window.

The Express & Star report that Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens have enlisted the help of super agent Jorge Mendes, but it seems Bruce is keen to stamp his authority by pursuing his own signings.

In addition to Hugill, a move for Wigan playmaker Nick Powell is also being planned, but a bid for the midfielder would only be made if Jack Grealish is sold this summer.

A move for Ben Woodburn looks to have hit the buffers though. Sheffield United are now poised to sign the Welsh international, the Liverpool Echo reports.

It seems Liverpool didn’t want their forward to compete with Jack if our no.10 stays, and so they decided to push ahead with a loan move to the Blades instead.
