Villa’s FA Cup Hopes Are Over Again But There Are More Important Things This Month – Match Stats

Aston Villa FA Cup third round journey began earlier today at Craven Cottage as we faced off against Fulham. With injuries to Wesley and Tom Heaton to deal with following the Burnley victory, fans were fairly mixed on a Cup run this year but in any event, it’s not something we have to worry about now.

After a goalless first half, the hosts hit nine minutes into the second period and although Anwar El Ghazi levelled matters up just after the hour mark, Harry Arter scored the key second goal with just over 15 minutes remaining.

Fulham clearly had the better of the game over head coach Dean Smith’s much changed side and the statto’s amongst us might be bemoaning a lack of an FA Cup win stretching back four years now, but in my humble we have bigger fish to fry this month to give us every opportunity of staying in the top flight.
