Villa’s U21’s Roll On As They Are The Dons Of MK – Match Stats

|

With recent first team disappointments at Aston Villa, it was a change of pace again this evening as our Under 21 group looked to make it three Southern Group C wins on the spin in the EFL Trophy competition as we made the trip down to Stadium MK to face MK Dons.

It was a lively encounter and Villa took the lead 13 minutes in as Keinan Davis got himself on the scoresheet as he continues his recovery from injury, but the hosts were quickly back on level terms as Tottenham Hotspur loanee Troy Parrott finished nicely.

Just under ten minutes later the hosts had the lead, so game on.

We had a few chances, as did they, but on the stroke of half time Davis set up Cameron Archer to bring us level again. What did the second half have in store?

It felt a slightly slower start to the second half, but we kept the pressure on and just ahead of the hour mark Ramsey capitalised as the ball came off the woodwork to make it 3-2.

With the lead secured, we were well in control of the game now and they didn’t really have any telling chances I remember, but we had some good breaks we maybe should’ve done more with. They almost nicked a leveller as 90 minutes approach, but another fantastic bit of play saw us go up the other end and Archer had his brace to secure the win at 4-2.

Ultimately another great victory for the lads as MK Dons made us work for it and for large parts of the game, we weren’t in control or comfortable, but they dug deep and ground it out until their talent truly came to the fore.

It might be a troubling time at the moment, but the future continues to look very bright indeed.
