Martin O’Neill has spoken about our Togolese international signing Moustapha Salifou and says at some stage he does want to give him a first team start.

He told the official site,

‘He came on at Old Trafford, but it’s hard to make an assessment based on that. The pitch was really sodden by the time he came on so a couple of his passes went astray, which is unusual for him. He’s a really nice footballer and it’s a pity in many aspects that we didn’t have him pre-season. He’s always been fighting against players who were in front of him – either because we’ve been winning a few games and they’ve been doing alright or players whose fitness was ahead of him.’

Adding, ‘But he’s improving in that aspect and at some stage or another I’d like to start him in a game. But it’s a fine balancing act. His attitude from day one has been excellent.’

He certainly seems to get rave reviews from those who follow the reserves so hopefully he’ll get his chance and prove a canny signing. Always was going to be a no risk signing anyway, he hardly cost the earth, if he doesn’t work out no one will really bat an eyelid but if he does break into the full team MON will have pulled off a right cheeky move!
