Vital Villa Summer 2011 Interviews: A Dad and Two Boys

How do you do one I hear you cry? Click here and find out! YOUR TURN: The Vital Villa Interviews..

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

My step dad took me to a game against Spurs at Villa Park in 1980, I was 7 at the time and was hooked the atmosphere the singing it was amazing for a 7 year old, we lived in Aston just along Trinity Road at the time and after that I had a season ticket for the next 10 years, I used to stand on the Holte on the old floodlight on the left hand side closest to the Trinity Road stand. After about 10 years I couldn’t afford a season ticket but still used to go to some home and away games with a bloke my mom used to work with and then a couple of years ago I took my 5 year old to the last game of the season against Newcastle when we relegated them and he was hooked, the game was sold out and I waited outside the ticket office for 2 hours until the bloke inside came out to me and told me that he had two return tickets, I got us both a season ticket the next season and also took my younger boy to a few games, then last season I got my younger lad a half season ticket. This year we all have a season ticket my two boys are 7 and 5 now and I can’t see a time in the future that we don’t all go to the Villa together, I also took my eldest to a few away games last year we went to Bolton, Everton, WBA and the best of the lot Arsenal. I took my eldest to the Final against Man Utd and took them both to the Semi against Chelsea so you could say that we are a Villa family now.

2) Alex McLeish? Your opinion please?

I wasn’t pleased to be honest at the start, I am a bit hotheaded sometimes and make rash judgments and I just couldn’t understand how we could take a manager from the Blues especially one who had them relegated twice , however he is now our manager and when I sat down and thought about it I realized that he is a professional and he will be looking to do the best he can as he wants to be a success and that is good enough for me. I will support him to the end I will not boo him I will sing his name and cheer him, I never once booed GH because even though I thought he made mistakes I could see what he was trying to do with the team and the playing style I just think he tried to change to quickly without the correct personnel, lets hope AM can get us playing good entertaining football and bring through a few players and I hope he shocks a few people who doubt him.

3) Best and worst moments of last season?

Worst moments of last season weren’t on the pitch for me to be honest it was all the in fighting that seemed to be going on and as with every club when that happens it shows on the pitch with the results, best moment has to be Arsenal away the atmosphere was amazing and the result topped off a great day and I can’t not mention the final day of the season can I !!!

4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner?

I think RL has been a breath of fresh air for the club he came in invested and bought a sense of belief that hadn’t been there for a long time, however we as fans have to realize that he has to look at the club in a financial sense as well and now we have to cut our cloth accordingly, does anyone really believe that he doesn’t want the best for the club ? I am glad we are now at this impasse as I think we have to bring through the younger players and give them a chance and hopefully this season we will see a few start to mature.

5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez and seven more to play behind those four, come on Randy we have £36m after selling Young (Great Servant) and Downing (Poor Excuse for a Man of his Word), seriously though anyone AM thinks is necessary.

6) (changed question!) Stewart Downing, now he has gone, were Villa right to get shot of him or should they have kept him against his wishes?

Get rid, I am so disappointed by him it is untrue, I truly wish Ashley Young all the best and hope he has a very good career with United but I hope Downing fails miserably.

7) Favourite current player?

Petrov, ok he is not everyone favorite but he links us together I just wish he was five years younger with the maturity he has now.

8) Favourite all time player/s?

The European Cup winning team, need I say more, I was lucky enough to play in a charity match against a few of them a couple of years back and that will be one of the highlights of my life when I look back along with the birth of my children.

9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?

Premier – Top 8
FA Cup: – With a bit of luck in the draw Semi’s
Carling: – Again with some luck Winners

10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

Will we ever be League Champions again in my lifetime ? Yes, you have to be a believer or there is no real point is there.

11) Right, lets lower the tone… which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!

Michaela Henderson-Thynne, while wearing the new home villa top with N’Zogbia on the back, she is Downing’s Girlfriend and I would thump him when he came home and he found me banging her doggy style while I got her to shout the names of all the villa players.
