1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

I suppose I really started to take more notice of Villa after the 1977 League Cup Final 3rd replay – Chris Nicholl’s thunderbolt shot. I decided then to make Villa my second favourite team as I was a Celtic fan at the time. But by 1979 I had grown more and more disillusioned with life in green and white and made the switch to claret and blue. Pretty good timing too as we all know what happened in the 1980/81 season and the one after that. Been behind the Villa through good times and bad ever since.

2) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

Good choice. He seems to want to get the team playing attacking, entertaining stuff. He’s making the right noises at any rate.

3) Best and worst moments of last season?

Were there any best moments last season? I suppose the emergence of Andy Weimann was a big bonus. Worst moment was probably all last season.

4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board, can a decent season next season make up for last season?

On the whole, Randy’s tenure hasn’t been all bad. Like anyone – I suppose he is judged by results on the field. We do well, he’s ok and if we do badly he gets it in the neck big time. He’s done some good things and made some seriously bad errors of judgement too (appointing McLeish being the biggest mistake ever). They tried and it backfired badly. What I will say is that, if Doug had still been in charge, Eck would have been booted out by Christmas. The unwillingness of the board to make that decision really got our backs up. Thankfully we just survived but had the unthinkable happened then God only knows what sort of a mess this great club of ours would have been in. And Randy and Faulkner would have been vilified for destroying the club and it would have made their position within the club almost untenable. I will give them credit for removing McLeish straight away and getting on with the search for a new manager and getting him installed early. Hopefully a better season will be just what the doctor ordered for all of us connected with this great club of ours

5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

I’m sure Lambert knows what he wants and with the transfer budget he has (believed to be £25m), he will spend wisely.

6) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

We need to address the defending – so I would hope we improve that area. Plenty of players just didn’t perform last season and not just defenders. Whether that was down to the manager and his tactics (or absolute lack off) who knows but if the same players improve dramatically under Paul Lambert then I suppose we’ll have our answer. There are some who just aren’t good enough and maybe they will depart and provide extra revenue for other purchases.

7) Favourite current player?

Judging by last season, maybe the one shining star was young Andy Weimann. The fans have really got behind this young man.

8) Favourite all time player/s?

So hard to pick just one but if I had to then it has to be Sid Cowans. The man is a legend at the club and its great to see him still involved with things at Villa.

9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season assuming a decent transfer window with £25m or so spent?

A top 10 finish will be brilliant and gives us a platform to build from in the seasons to come. A cup would be nice to top it all off, especially if we managed to finally win the FA Cup – the only trophy I’ve never seen us win. The 2000 Final was awful, the players just didnt get going at all

10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

What was the first game you saw at VP? And what is the most memorable game at VP you went to? First ever game was in 1984 against Coventry City. Won 2:0 I think. When I walked up the steps from the corridor behind the Holte End stand and looked out at the pitch bathed in glorious sunshine is a memory that I have never forgotten. I get goosebumps just recalling it. Most memorable match – has to be Inter Milan and that David Platt goal. What a night.

11) Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:
(based on our WHO ARE YOU thread!!!)

a) Which celebrity/s would you most like to meet and why? Sid Cowans – to shake his hand and thank him for all the great times he gave us fans as a Villa player. Paul Stanley of KISS – same thing really and probably a few other great stars of the rock world

b) Age 21 plus VAT

c) Location: born and raised in Hull

d) Favourite alcoholic drink: cider

e) Favourite non-alcoholic drink: coke cola (I know it rots your teeth but I’m down to gums anyway)

f) Favourite Film/s: Goldmember, Monsters Inc

g) Favourite TV Show/s: Family Guy

h) Music?: rock and heavy metal

i) Best ever moment in your life: Watching Aston Villa winning the European Cup, oh and getting married

j) Ambitions: to see Villa actually win the FA Cup before I die of old age

k) Wise words: If music be the food of love, why dont rabbits play the banjo?
