Plastic Villan is next for the Vital Villa interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

For as long as I can remember. I inherited it from my dad (although the fact that we were champions around that time might have had an effect). It wasn’t anything like the obsession it is now until I moved in with some uni mates, one a Villan and two Spurs fans around Mon’s last season.

2) What is your favourite Villa moment of all time/most treasured memory?

I wasn’t really following football much at the time but watching the 1994 league cup win with my Man utd supporting brother (our other brother supports Liverpool and we were all born in Brighton. No idea why) in his bedroom, singing ‘where’s your treble gone’

3) If you could bring back a former Villa player into this team (at his peak) who would it be and why?

My obsession is pretty recent so, not many. Is it to early to say Benteke?

4) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

I think he may just be the smartest football manager in the country. Time will tell. Certainly a very good choice for Villa. He took a bigger gamble than I would have liked last season by not bringing a leader in in January to help us through the very rough patch but we came through it (just) and I think the future under him is very bright. Now that he has so many of his own players in I expect him to start doing some very good things next few years. He has another big test now with the Benteke saga. Hasn’t handled some of the players as well as he could have done so I’m interested to see how this goes. If Benteke bangs in twenty plus goals in a Villa shirt next season I will consider that a great success.

5) Best and worst moments of last season?

I’m trying to put the worst moments out of my mind. But watching Tottenham hammer us when I was in France visiting my wife’s family, wearing my new Villa shirt she got me for Christmas as her cousins ridiculed me was grim. Bradford, Chelsea I missed fortunately.

Best moment for me was probably Liverpool. But knocking Man city out of the cup and smashing Sunderland were pretty special.

6) Some say last season was a success, others not so much. What is your opinion?

It depends what you mean by success. Should Villa be in a relegation battle? No never. But if you look at where we were and what needed doing last season I think we achieved what we set out to do. It was a bumpier ride than it should have been with some agonisingly crap results. But we survived, we bloodied a squad of hungry young players, most of whom have very bright futures ahead of them, polished up one of the most promising young strikers in the world and shipped out a few players I was glad to see the back of.

7) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board?

Well intentioned but seem to be making it up as they go along. But some lessons seem to be getting learned along the way. The appointment of McLeish is still something I look back on in absolute disbelief. But Randy is always ready to put his hand in his pocket while trying not to jeopardise the financial health of the club.

8) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

We’ve signed six already, but some brilliant kid I’ve never heard of to help take us up a level.

9) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

Those Lambert has no plans for. Bent, Given, Ireland, Hutton and maybe N’Zogbia

10) Favourite current player?

This might have changed in the last few days. I’ll say Guzan. I always liked keepers and I think he’s a very good one. With less of a keystone cops defence in front of him we might even manage a clean sheet or two this season.

11) Who was your first footballing hero and who are your favourite all time player/s?

For most of my life I’ve only really followed international football and then not very avidly. But Maradonna, Peter Schmeichel ( I had money on Germany to win Euro 1992 and the bastard would just let anything past him).

12) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?

Premier: 7-10th
FA Cup: Winners!
Capital One: Quarter finals or better…

13) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

Now that you have a car are you going to get your lazy southern ass up to Villa park occasionally? I hope so.

14) Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:
