Vital Villa Man of the Match v Arse

Aston Villa showed how far they have come under boss Martin O’Neill this afternoon – but it was sadly not enough to overcome an in-form Arsenal side.

However, every cloud has a silver lining (that’s not literally true, although I wasted a summer of my life in Snowdonia trying to get rich before finding that out) and there were some impressive individual performances at Villa Park today.

The poll, on the right-hand side of the page, asks for YOUR view on who was Villa’s man-of-the-match today – with all of the starting XI and the two substitutes available to choose. So many options, it’s a tough challenge. Not as tough as John Carew’s challenge on Aliaksandr Hleb during the game, but…

This month has just begun, and despite today’s (admittedly predictable) setback, it could well be a December to remember, with five more games before the end of the year. With the possible exception of the trip to Chelsea on Boxing Day, none of the matches should be as difficult as today’s game…hopefully!
