Ratings:

Johnstone: 8 – I wasn’t bothered about getting him in again to be honest but he’s proven me wrong. Great command and great save from that free kick. Those faces are worth a few wins over a season.

Elmohamedy: 6 – not a right back for me. Not sure what he adds.

Taylor: 7 – comfortable.

Terry: 7 – adapting to the league and begging to dominate. Part of a shambles for their equaliser.

Chester: 7 – fine. Part of a shambles for their equaliser.

Whelan: 7 – another who’s got to grips with championship. Does the unflashy stuff well. Part of a shambles for their equaliser!

Hourihane: 7 – drifts in and out but he is a midfielder who can make things happen. Really like him as a player.

Adomah: 8 MOTM – another good showing. Why on earth he was left out so long I do not know.

Snodgrass: 7 – can be frustrating but looks like he can make things happen. Standard for a winger really.

Kodjia: 7 – clearly not up to speed but getting there. A match fit Kodjia would have hurried that chance in the first half to make it 2-0.

Davies: 7 – another positive showing. Love the way the ball sticks and how he uses it.

SUBS

Hogan: 5 – must be hating it here. Asked to do a job he’s not up to for 30mins. Again.
Onomah: 6 – did OK.
Hutton: 6 – helped see it out. One tackle of the type fans love to see.

Bruce: 4 – if you think he could get more out of this squad regardless of the result.
7 – if you accept that this is how it will be and the man knows how to do it in this division.

And from Villan57

This is what I thought . I doubt many will agree but …….

Johnstone . solid pulled off a couple of game winning saves , long time since a Villa keeper has done that. Kicking was poor .8

Elmo . He was ok , I’m really not sure about him as a fullback . Nothing wrong with him yesterday though. 6

Chester . Best I’ve seen him first half really played well . Second half reverted to the player I see most weeks . 7

Terry. Outshone by Chester first half but can’t recall him breaking sweat all game, comfortable. 7

Taylor . Another who was excellent first half not so good second. 7

Snoddy. He was ok not sure why our keeper hits him with high balls is a mystery. Struggled second half and should have been subbed earlier. 6

Whelan . Some good stuff some shocking stuff , the Jedi will be back soon. 6

Hourihane. Though he has his best all round game for us . Got a foot in and took his goal well , keeper gave him the chance but he took it well. 8

Albert . Ran them ragged first half and a finish gabby could only dream about, second half I forgot he was playing as they shut him down or was it he that was on the far side of the pitch to me second half. 7

Koj. Set up the first goal and won the free kick for the second , Such a frustrating player to watch , if only he could lay it off sometimes we’d scored more goals. 8

KD. Getting more confident by the game , even trying a few tricks now, Christian who? 8

Subs Onomah . Pretty shocking , caught in possession numerous time well off the pace 4
Hogan . Feel for this lad , can’t play up on his own and Bruce keeps putting him there 5.
Scottish Cafu at least woke the Holte end up! Not on long enough to rate you either love him or hate him.

Speaking of fans , it was actually like a library yesterday . Forest fans woke up for 10 mins second half . I guess the truth is we are happy as we won but there really wasn’t much to get excited about watching Forest is like watching paint drying , . The game mostly consisted of Forest keep ball across the back four and Goalkeeper and us jogging about waiting for them to give us the ball so we could break . Which they did , They played into our hands .
