1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?
Since birth really. Dad was a Villa fan, and started taking me to games pretty much as soon as I could walk.
2) Alex McLeish? Your opinion please?
Honest opinion is that he is a poor appointment. Not due to his Blues connections, but due to his CV. Finishing 3rd with Rangers in a League with only 2 teams. Shocking. 2 relegations in 3 years at Blues, it may count as ‘Premier League Experience’ but not very good premier league experience is it?
Having said all that he’s here now and I’ll give him a chance. Not got anything against him personally, more annoyed at the board for appointing him.
3) Best and worst moments of last season?
Best was last away game of the season against Arsenal. The whole day out was amazing anyway, the carnival atmosphere was electric, it really didn’t matter about the result… but then to go and beat them, and to beat them pretty comfortably was just fantastic.
Worst was probably the 6-0 hammering by Newcastle. To be beaten so convincingly by a newly promoted team was a sign of things to come.
4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner?
I’m on the turn. From the day he stepped into the club, until 3 weeks ago, I was of the opinion the man could do no wrong and would always leap to his defense when any criticism came his way. Now though, I’m really not too sure. Always thought he came here to try and win things but starting to think now he has given up, and just wants to make sure the club is profitable in order to make it saleable when he decides he’s had enough. (The McLeish appointment sends those signs out to me).
Not gonna suddenly turn on the man completely, but also won’t just blindly back him willy nilly anymore either.
5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?
Tricky one this. In short I don’t really rate any of the people we’re being linked too (Bellamy, N’Zogbia, Hutton, Given). They are probably about our current level, but if we want to improve I don’t think they are the next step. Think it’s time to find a few hidden gems in the Championship and abroad, as Everton did all those years ago with Cahill, Jagielka and Arteta. It’s a gamble, but if we don’t gamble I fear we’ll just fester around mid table.
6) Stewart Downing, if he really wants out, should Villa refuse to let him go or get shot?
We need to put a price on his head. If it’s met he goes, if not he stays. Lets just hope he’s as prtofessional as Gareth Barry was if made to stay another year.
7) Favourite current player?
Darren Bent. No explanation needed.
8) Favourite all time player/s?
McGrath, Laursen, Staunton, Saunders, Taylor.
9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?
Premier – 9th
FA Cup: – Last 16
Carling: – Quarter Finals
10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?
Do I ever believe we will be League Champions again in my life time?
Yes! If I didn’t I really don’t think I’d bother.
