Vital Villa Summer 2011 Interviews: Jon Law

How do you do one I hear you cry? Click here and find out! YOUR TURN: The Vital Villa Interviews..

1)When did you become a Villa fan and why?

I was first taken down the Villa at the age of six by a neighbour but I can only remember being overwhelmed by it all and there being a lack of goals. But I think that planted the seed. It was a bit of an ingestion period but when I regularly started going as a teen with my mates in the days of Tony Morely, Dessie Bremner and Sir Dennis was when the bug took hold.

2) Alex McLeish? Your opinion please?

Disbelief changing to confident assurance that it wouldn`t happen, leading to acceptance of the smokescreen theory, then to horror and gradually drifting into acceptance and season ticket renewal the day before the appointment was confirmed. Now, reasonably optimistic about our chances with him in charge.

3) Best and worst moments of last season?

The shock and distress at MON leaving us right in the poop. Worst moment on the pitch Wolves at home, what an awful match. Best moments surround the great performances by our youth players who really had a good go at taking their chances, exemplified in the home games against Man Utd and Arsenal, both disappointing in the end but fantastic glimpses of what is to come, potentially!

4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner?

Great bloke with the interests of the club at heart. Keep spending mate.

5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

Goalie – Given; winger – the Zog; some foreign bargains from the McLeish network.

6) Stewart Downing, if he really wants out, should Villa refuse to let him go or get shot?

Well this situation is quite different to the Young exit. Young`s leaving was expected yet very sad when it happened. Downing is being a selfish get and really we need to hold out for maximum money £20m and boo him to death when he comes back.

7) Favourite current player?

Has to be Darren Bent I guess, haven`t really had a big fave since Ian Taylor and Yorkie. I didn`t realise exactly how good Daren Bent was until he arrived, his movement his exceptional.

8) Favourite all time player/s?

In recent times it has to be Ian Talyor and Dwight Yorke, both gave their all for the club and gave us so much entertainment. From yesteryear it has to be Des Bremner who simply gave the lot on the pitch and was completely reliable if not the most cultured midfielder. Met him a few times and he`s great, Villa through and through despite his time at the unmentionables.
9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?

PL – top 8, sixth will be tough

FA Cup: – probably get through 4th and 5th rounds but then go out in a crap away draw to Man City

Carling: – as above
I`d like to see some proper consolidation with the younger players getting a go and proving their worth, or not. Some good football would be nice too.

10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

I had a dream that we won in Europe and me and my mates were there on the day of the match. There was a lot of wierd dream style goings on but I`d love to know when that will happen.

11) Right, lets lower the tone… which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!

Natalie Portman and Cameron Dias in a double bubble would be a treat. Then down the pub for a couple of beers and some celebrity sumo with the two detestable Jeremy`s Kyle and Clarkeson and a victory in the final against Simon Cowell. A few more beers, a Villa win and home with Natalie and Cameron.
