Vital Villa Summer Interview: Deanovilla

Deanovilla steps up for the Vital Villa members interviews.

Q: When did you become a Villa fan and why?

When I was 5, so roughly 13 years ago… ahem…. didn’t really have a choice, Dad was a big Villa fan and just started taking me to games and I was soon hooked. It was back in the days of the Holte End being all standing and when we had the big floodlights in the corners of the stadium. My dad always used to take down a Milk Crate for me to stand on and I’d always annoy him by never using it, climbing the floodlights and watching the game from up there. Imagine doing that in this health & safety crazed world we live in now.

Q: The season just gone, good bad or ugly? What did you think of it?

Good. Improvement in the league, 2 trips to Wembley, what more can we ‘realistically’ ask for? We had a lot of very good results too doing the double over the Noses, finally beating Man Ure at Old Trafford, beating Liverpool.. more than value for money for my season ticket I reckon.

Q: Best and worst moment of last season?

Best was beating Man United. Cant remember the last time I was that happy. Even broke my ‘Never update Facebook via mobile’ rule.

Worst. Getting robbed at Wembley. Cheating United scum!

Q: James Milner… is he off do you think? If so, what price (realistically) should Villa hold out for? If off to Man City, which – if any – of their players would you want in exchange?

Unfortunately it doesn’t look good. I never thought Jimmy would be the type to jump ship as I always had him down as a model pro more interested in football than money, but if he goes to Man City maybe I read him wrong. There are a number of players I’d like as part of any deal…. Hart, Ireland, Barry, SWP, Bellamy, Richards… I’d take any of that lot.

Q: What signings (type of player or specific name/s if you wish) would you like to see Villa buy this summer?

We need a goalscorer but I’m not sure there are many available who are good enough in this Country. I’d also love us to get a really good young keeper. Hart or Kirkland spring to mind.

Q: Where do you stand on Martin O’Neill (I don’t mean literally, that would be assault) ?

Year on year improvement is hard to knock. I think he’s an odd character but as long as he keeps us up their challenging for Europe every season i reckon he’s earnt his corn.

Q: Your opinion of Randy and the board?

Not got a bad word to say about Randy. Breathe of fresh air after him who need not be mentioned.

Q: Favourite current player and favourite all time player/s

Currently Milner, so it kills me to say what I have above. I’m gonna be gutted when he leaves. He once kicked a horse in the chin you know and their descendents today are known as Giraffes.

All time. Obviously Paul McGrath, but also have soft spots for Steve Staunton (left footed just like me), Martin Laursen, Ian Taylor, Alan McInally and Dean Saunders.

Q: Do you expect progress next season, difficult to answer before the transfer window closes I know?

It’s going to be very very dificult! I’d argue standing still points wise would be as good as progress when you consider the money Spurs and Man City are likely to spend.

Q: Right, lets lower the tone… which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!

Bang… Pixie Lott and Megan Fox. Both together though otherwise I’m just not interested!!

Thump. Danny Dyer! In fact thumping is not good enough, get me a gun!

With thanks to Deanovilla
