Vital Villa Summer Interview: SirDennis

SirDennis steps up for the Vital Villa members interviews.

Q: When did you become a Villa fan and why?

Was a Villa fan the moment I was born. Saw my first game in 1969 aged 4 against Oxford at Home

Q: The season just gone, good bad or ugly? What did you think of it?

I can’t complain we were still vying for 4th with 2 games to go so pretty much every game had something riding on it.

Q: Best and worst moment of last season?

You could say Wembley for both really . Was so disappointed after the Cup Final. The Blackburn game was pretty special though but the worst I felt was after the 2-2 against Wolves , don’t know why but I didn’t speak to anyone for the rest of the day.

Q: James Milner… is he off do you think? If so, what price (realistically) should Villa hold out for? If off to Man City, which – if any – of their players would you want in exchange?

Would love it if he stayed , but if he wants to go its best we sell him. I cried when we sold Andy Gray but subsequent events turned out not to bad so if we got £20 million plus Ireland it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

Q: What signings (type of player or specific name/s if you wish) would you like to see Villa buy this summer?
I really thought we should have gone for Darren Bent last summer .He fits the profile O’Neill goes for perfectly. Having said that I thought Doyle was the best forward I saw last season in terms of movement and hold up play. A forward must be the priority surely.

Q: Where do you stand on Martin O’Neill (I don’t mean literally, that would be assault) ?
I think he has done a terrific job. After all the years of yo yoing up and down the table its nice to know that we are going to be challenging for the coveted 4th place. The test for him now is to actually achieve that place.

Q: Your opinion of Randy and the board?

I can’t fault them.Everything he says and does is with a view to the long term future and its a long time since we had someone capable of doing that.

Q: Favourite current player and favourite all time player/s

I love Ashley Young and Milner their work rate is second to none .Going back Dennis Mortimer was my all time favourite, what a player he was.How he never played for England still mystifies me.. Other favourites include Bruce Rioch , Brian Little , Andy Gray and Paul McGrath

Q: Do you expect progress next season, difficult to answer before the transfer window closes I know?

Well I would hope so but the transfer dealings will be the key .Would love another trip to Wembley with us winning the cup this time.I thought the support was magnificent both times and it sends a tingle down my spine to think of the noise if we actually won down there.

Q: Right, lets lower the tone… which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!

Kelly Brook does it for me and I would pay good money to k.o John Barrowman.
