ASTONGUERILLA

1 – How long have you been a Villa fan and how did you first get the Claret & Blue faith?

Always have been! But I became conscious of it when I was about 5. My Dad raised me is a Villa fan and it`s always been in our family, dating back to Jimmy Crabtree (He`s my great-great-great grandfather).

2 – What was your first game?

I think it was 1987 (I was 6), Southampton away. We were late, we had to sit in the away end, and we lost 5-0. It still didn`t manage to put me off the Villa.

3 – What is your most memorable moment as a Villa fan?

It was probably the league cup final in `94 for me. My school was made up of mostly Manure fans and going back to school that Monday was the greatest day ever. Also Savo Milosevic scoring in the league cup final against Leeds. I always had a soft spot for Savo even though he underachieved at Villa, but when Andy Townsend knocked that ball through to him I think he took us all by surprise.

4 – And the worst moment?

Enckleman, and getting ‘SAUNDERS 9` printed on the back of my league cup winners shirt only to find he left for Turkey a couple of days later. I was gutted.

5 – Who are your favourite current Villa players?

Definitely Laursen, (it`s almost like having God back in defense), Ashley Young, and Big John Carew.

6 – Which former player/s are your ultimate heroes?

Deano, Deano, Deano, I like the way he still has a soft spot for Villa. Oh and Grandpappa Crabtree RIP.

7 – Which player do you think was the worst to ever put on the team colours?

Baros, Djemba-Djemba, Kachloul, Hadji, Berson, Balaban, Curcic(he really was a player), and Enckleman.

8 – What is the best goal you have seen Villa score and which is your favourite game?

My favorite game was the last home game of the 2006/2007 season. Free scarf, European cup winning team on parade, European cup on parade, and the best noise VP has made for years. My favorite Villa goal was a Dwight Yorke penalty against Arsenal, it was pretty plain but it`s the last time I remember us beating them.

9 – Best away ground visited?

I`m sorry to say that I don`t get to many as I live and work in Cornwall. My Dad`s from the midlands and traveled a lot to watch Villa in the 70`s and 80`s; he always liked Everton I think.

10 – Who would you like to see Villa sign this summer?

I`m trying not to think about it, but I`d love to see Bentley in a Villa shirt.

11 – What are your predictions for us this season in the:
a) League
6th
b) Europe Quarter-finals
c) Carling Cup Winners

d) Fa Cup 3rd Round

12 – What is your opinion of Martin O’Neill?

He`s a football deity. Whenever he`s being interviewed you find yourself transfixed on what he has to say, it`s quite scary really. With that kind of wit, charm, and intelligence it`s easy to see how he manages to motivate his squads so easily. His transfer dealings are a little sluggish.

13 – What is your opinion of Randy Lerner and the new board?

I love Randy Learner (in a plutonic and strictly manly way). Everything they have done for the club so far has been absolutely top draw.

14 – Where do you sit at Villa and are you a season ticket holder?

I`m not a season ticket holder but I more often than not end in the Upper Trinity.

15 – And finally (stolen without shame from Vital Arsenal!) if you could invite 4 people connected to Villa, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would they be? And you can add one bit of top totty as well to make the party go with a ‘bang’ ;o)

God
Prince William (And I`d make him do the dishes)

Martin O`Neill

JP Angel`s missus – she was hot.
