It is chinkyvilla’s turn on the Vital Villan Interviews..

1 – How long have you been a Villa fan and how did you first get the Claret & Blue faith?

I am Irish and originally it was because of the number of quality irish players playing for the club. The likes of Paul McGrath, Steve Staunton, Ray Houghton, Andy Townsend. Italia ’90 raised the knowledge of football in Ireland and that is when I started supporting Villa.

2 – What was your first game?

The first game I was at was Aston Villa against Blackburn Rovers. Villa lost 3 – 1 and Gareth Southgate scored an own goal. I think David Dunn may have scored his first goal for blackburn the same day.

3 – What is your most memorable moment as a Villa fan?

Phil King penalty in the UEFA Cup against Inter Milan.

4 – And the worst moment?

Fa Cup final against Chelsea. Crap game and Villa really didn’t show up at all that day. Having performed so badly yet only losing 1-0 was very dissapointing.

5 – Who are your favourite current Villa players?

I hope to see Curtis Davies progress to become an England regular. He does need to improve but Terry and Ferdinand aren’t getting any younger and I can’t see too much competition for Davies although substantial improvement is needed.

6 – Which former player/s are your ultimate heroes?

Ray Houghton for scoring that goal against England. Paul McGrath is an absolute hero, especially when you read the life he had and how he performed for club and country.

7 – Which player do you think was the worst to ever put on the team colours?

Mark Delaney. I have noticed on the website that some people mentioned him on there favourite team for Villa. I have never seen him have a good game, in fact I can’t understand how he had such a carreer at Villa at all. He is useless.

8 – What is the best goal you have seen Villa score and which is your favourite game?

Dalian Atkinson v Wimbledon 1993

Being 3 – 1 down to Tranmere going into the second leg of the 1993/94 League Cup semi final. Coming back to level 4 each on aggregate before eventually winning on penalties and going on to win to the trophy in the final.

9 – Best away ground visited?

St. James’ Park. Great fun in Newcastle and great atmosphere in the ground.

10 – Who would you like to see Villa sign this summer?

I thing a creative midfielder/forward. A player in the Bergkamp/Fabregas mould would can unlock defences. If Villa could attract a real game breaker like that the can win big competitions.

11 – What are your predictions for us this season in the:

a)League 4th/5th
b)Europe (Get through the group stage, maybe a quarter/semi final appearance. The competition is very strong this year)
c)FA Cup (As long as we don’t draw Manchester United we can go all the way in this competition)

12 – What is your opinion of Martin O’Neill?

Hero!

13 – What is your opinion of Randy Lerner and the new board?

Delighted!

14 – Where do you sit at Villa and are you a season ticket holder?

I have a friend who works for Villa and he gets me tickets for the Holte End whenever I get over to see them.

15 – And finally if you could invite 4 people connected to Villa, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would they be? And you can add one bit of top totty as well to make the party go with a ‘bang’ ;o)

Martin O’Neill (Very funny and entertaining on BBC TV)
Ron Atkinson (Seems like an entertainer)
Dwight Yorke (always has a smile on his face)
Paul McGrath (enjoys a pint)

Abigail Clancy (just to p*ss Crouchie off)
