Vital Villan Mid Season Interview: Bangkok Villan

Bangkok Villan is the next to take the Vital Villan mid-season interview:
1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

About 1960….when I was 9…a distant cousin from Erdington used to visit our home in Quinton (Albion territory) with his folks and he got me interested with team phot’s etc. None on my close family were into football and all my friends were baggies fans. First match September 1963 up the Witton End beat the Arse 3-1.

2) What do you think of this season, do we have the chance to push on or will we slip up like last season?

We have a much better squad than last season and we have also learned from that poor run of form. No way will this squad let their form slip to any great extent and I believe we will finish 5th.

3) Best moment/s of this season so far?

Our improvement over last season in our home form…I honestly expect us to win away against anybody on our day, but last season’s home form was disappointing.

4) Worst moment/moments of this season so far?

Losing to Wigan on opening day

5) Do you expect any arrivals this January (bearing in mind MON has indicated not) and IF you could bring in a player or two, who (realistically) would you go for?

Striker required for sure – Van Nistleroy please

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?

I would like to think we can find a really good striker without forking out for a 30 million type like Berbatov. Say 20 million budget. But if we finish in the top four then we will need to spend more and also sort out the midfield.

7) If we made the Carling Cup final, who would you most like to face Manchester United or Manchester City?

Manchester United due to the high profile this would give us around the world. The 1994 final was terrific for Aston Villa supporters.

8) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?

Premier League: 5th
FA Cup: semi’s
Carling Cup: Winners

9) Your opinion on Martin O’Neill now he is mid way through his 4th season in charge?

With all the frustrations that he brings to the table I believe he is the right man for the current job in hand.

10) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

Top Notch – could not do better. I am very proud to be a Villa fan

11) Favourite current player?

If I was pressed I would say James Milner. But personally I have no real favourites like in the past with God, Brian Little etc. I just really like the whole squad and I have a warm feeling that this group of players will deliver and prosper. Then you can bring judgment on MON. He has assembled greatness.

12) Favourite former player/s?

Brian little (great ball skills) and Andy Gray (very brave particularly with diving headers in the box) and Paul McGrath 9best defender ever to play for the Villa)

13) Right, lets lower the tone… which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!

Living outside of the UK now for almost five years and never get to see any celebrity programmes that the UK is obsessed with.

Can’t bang anybody at the moment due to my Diabetes (my wife thinks that’s a good thing living in Bangkok)

UP THE VILLA

With thanks to Bangkok Villan
