Vital Villan Mid Season Interview: JayVFC

Vital Villa co-ed JayVFC takes the Vital Villan mid-season interview:

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

Would say from birth, but is that even possible? I don’t ever remember making the conscious decision to follow the mighty Villa and my entire family are all Blues fans so not quite sure how it happened. My mother likes to say that ‘You picked Villa just to be awkward’ but I like to think that just knew better.

2) What do you think of this season, do we have the chance to push on or will we slip up like last season?

Up’s and down’s like most seasons but this one has a slight difference… I actually have a sense that we are really pushing on. We’ve some fantastic players and the summer signings have been superb. Do I think we’ll crack the top four? No. Do I think we’ll slip up like season? No. You have to improve just to stand still in this league and ultimately, I feel that will be the case this year with next season being the one to really push for the Champions League.

3) Best moment/s of this season so far?

Obvious one. Has to be the United win at Old Trafford. I’ve never seen that in my life and I’ve always had a healthy respect for United so it was pretty sweet.

4) Worst moment/moments of this season so far?

Maybe not so obvious but Wolves at the Molineux for me. We’d just drawn to Man City (that we should have won) and then deservedly beaten Chelsea, so to follow that up with a draw against one of the ‘lesser lights’ was painful.

5) Do you expect any arrivals this January (bearing in mind MON has indicated not) and IF you could bring in a player or two, who (realistically) would you go for?

In January? No. I would go for Carlton Cole though. Realistic considering West Ham aren’t exactly swimming in money and he appears to be a much more complete player than when we had him on loan.

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?

There’s only one place up for grabs in the first XI for me and that’s up top. Agbonlahor seems to be doing the business but we need another striker capable of 20 goals a season. In that respect… Defoe would be fantastic but Spurs would be stupid to sell so it has to be someone from abroad as there just isn’t anyone available in England.

7) If we made the Carling Cup final, who would you most like to face Manchester United or Manchester City?

Manchester United in the cup final. That’s what it’s all about!

8) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?

Premier League: 6th
FA Cup: Finalists
Carling Cup: Winners

9) Your opinion on Martin O’Neill now he is mid way through his 4th season in charge?

Still the right man for the job and still definitely taking us forward. How his transfer policy is so widely criticised is beyond me considering the talent he’s signed at [relatively] low prices. His tactics and substitutions policy does leave something to be desired, but hey… nobody is perfect.

10) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

An example to all clubs everywhere on how a modern day football club should be run whilst still maintaining history and heritage.

11) Favourite current player?

As if you had to ask. James Milner of course – A legend in the making.

12) Favourite former player/s?

Normally my favourite players are centre backs for some reason. Not sure why. Paul McGrath is a cert but honorable mention to Mellberg. He was pretty clever with his comments about the Blues and I think he knew that would only increase his appeal with the fans (like the General maybe?).

13) Right, lets lower the tone… which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!

Can it be the same one? Lindsay Lohan. She’s highly annoying but I have a thing for redheads.

With thanks to JayVFC
