Villan57 takes the Vital Villa mid-season interview:
1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?
My Uncle took me to VP for my 10th Birthday present (1967). God Bless You Uncle Brian hope you get better from your recent stroke soon .He’s in his 80’s now and hasn’t been fit enough to go for many years ! Hope we win a cup for you this season mate!
2) What do you think of this season, do we have the chance to push on or will we slip up like last season?
I’ve enjoyed the last few weeks since Milner switched to the centre , what a difference ! We are now actually playing the fast counter attacking football the media will have you believe we’ve been playing for 3 seasons ! Instead of the hoof ball we have actually played most weeks. We don’t have the fire power to push on I’m afraid, do we ?
3) Best moment/s of this season so far?
There have been a few but the win at the theatre of dreamers has to be up there with Jimmy’s winner last Thursday to put us a step nearer a cup final.
4) Worst moment/moments of this season so far?
Torres winner at Villa Park left not only that gutted sick feeling but also the realisation that we just haven’t got there yet . I guess it woke me up from my dream!
5) Do you expect any arrivals this January (bearing in mind MON has indicated not) and IF you could bring in a player or two, who (realistically) would you go for?
No I don’t , I think we’ve all had our expectations slowly lowered over the last 3 seasons transfer wise, the dreams of £30m players have long since gone . We desperately need a striker or Two and I would have said a Midfielder but having had a glimpse of young Fabian I can’t wait to see him along side Milner . I think a midfield of Young Milner Delph and Downing would be pretty darn good ? As for strikers Bent would have been the man but too late now. Come on MON prove me wrong and buy a striker !
6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?
Absolutely no idea who we should or will sign but we all know that to progress we need continuous improvement . Obviously that goes for every club in the world not just us .
I think we need to wheel and deal a bit more get rid of the over 30’s whilst they still have value , move on the deadwood and kids who will never make it at VP and use the money to provide the missing links .
Onwards and Upwards!
7) If we made the Carling Cup final, who would you most like to face Manchester United or Manchester City?
Manchester United more prestigious beating them. (and to be honest not many teams beat Citeh!) Lets just get there please lads!
8) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?
Premier League: I expect top4 but I think 6th at best if I’m honest, not enough goals will be the problem
FA Cup: expect the Final ! I do every year ,only happened once in my 43 seasons so I’m not holding my breath !
Carling Cup: I expect the final and hope to win it
9) Your opinion on Martin O’Neill now he is mid way through his 4th season in charge?
Best answered at the end of May I think ! Just when you think yep this is good stuff, like the first half against Blackburn , along comes the second half against Blackburn when we are getting overrun and he puts on Sidwell ? That One game sums him and how I feel up quiet nicely!
10) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?
The Mutts Nuts done everything he can , feel sorry for him we still can’t fill the ground despite practically giving tickets away at times ! Some Fans don’t deserve you Randy!
11) Favourite current player?
If you’d have asked me two months ago I’d have struggled to find a favourite , those days had gone at my age but now Milner is playing in the middle it just has to be young Jimmy!
This Kid should have Gerrards place in the England team on current form !
12) Favourite former player/s?
So many Brian Godfrey Andy Lochhead Andy Gray, Sir Brian , Lord Dennis of Mortimer Big Peter Withe ,tended to like the strikers as we always seem to have had some cracking number 9’s and guess what we lack in today’s team !
13) Right, lets lower the tone… which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!
Easy one this NRC on both counts! Once with a red hot poker up his **** and once with my fist round his ear! lol I’m joking Nige honest!
