Aston Villa’s capture of former Brentford striker Ollie Watkins for a reported £33million certainly peaked the interest of the fanbase.
He was clearly our top target and we just simply went out there and got him, but it’s not unfair to say some fans had concerns about how he would adjust to the Premier League and whether he was the sort of quality we should be aiming for. Whilst the jury is still out for a few given the chances the now 25-year-old does miss, there’s no denying that with a return of 14 league goals (16 in total), along with five assists, he’s had a fantastic year – and he capped it off with a goal in his maiden international bow for England.
𝟯𝟳 games. 𝟭𝟰 goals. 𝟱 assists. 🔥
Ollie Watkins has been nominated for the PFA Fans' Player of the Year award and you can vote for him now! 👊

The likeable and energetic forward had a massive hand in helping us to tangible improvement and an eleventh-placed finish, and everyone expects him to kick on even further next season, as we all know his scoring tally should be higher when you factor in woodwork bound efforts and those dodgy Video Assistant Referee calls that went against him.
With Ollie not making Gareth Southgate’s final squad cut, he can enjoy a well earned holiday now and also celebrate the fact that he’s been named on the shortlist for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year Award.
Ollie is joined on the shortlist by Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Patrick Bamford (Leeds United), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool).
This is a fan vote, and you have until 8am on Friday, June 11 to do the right thing and give Ollie your support. Get voting!

With a years PL experience now, in what was a tough season with all the disruption & injuries, plus improvements to the squad over the summer, hoping to see him get 20 goals & 8-10 assists next season
