“Want To Do Something Special” – Villa’s New Capture Is Setting His Sights High & Fans Should Love It

Well I’m not quite sure where this one came from, but today Aston Villa have thoroughly unexpectedly announced the capture of Brentford talent Ollie Watkins.

Villa haven’t been linked with the 24-year-old versatile striker all summer, so with a haul of 26 goals to his name as the Griffin Park outfit narrowly lost out on promotion to the Premier League themselves via the Wembley route, I doubt anyone saw this coming.

Highly rated Watkins comes into B6 on a five year deal and although some may quibble with the reported £33million deal given his lack of top flight experience, hopefully he’ll be a key cog in our top line moving forward as we all know the aim of the game this season – show marked improvement and stay away from that relegation battle.

I imagine most will quietly be quite optimistic about his chances of success and just like Cash, it seems he has his head screwed on.

“I am so excited to join Aston Villa and to reunite with Dean Smith as my Head Coach. I cannot wait to wear the famous claret and blue in the Premier League. I want to do something special here and score some goals.”

Smith was understandably delighted himself.

“Ollie has developed into one of the most sought-after strikers in the country and we are looking forward to seeing him show his great qualities in an Aston Villa shirt. He is a hugely determined character who has both the ability and personality to succeed at the highest level.”

Welcome to the club Ollie, make the most of it and now we play the ‘who next’ game.

Sorry Mike Field, where have you been lately? There haven’t been many days without Ollie Watkins and Villa being mentioned in the same sentence for what seems to have taken an age to get completed.

Wow. What a piece of journalism. The transfer that came from nowhere, villa haven’t been linked with the striker.
Are you even for real. I have watched and waited for nearly a month now with daily links and supposed bids for Watkins. Seems the only person who hadn’t made a connection was you. Hats off Mike Field you have really put a well thought out article together here, I truly hope you call yourself neither a villa fan or a journalist but pray you didn’t get paid for this crap. Man alive…..

I mean honestly who is this guy. He hasn’t been linked with a journalistic article all summer and then bang he writes this. What a legend. Glad you replied first as I wasn’t sure if it was a crap dream. Great signing but as we both know it came from nowhere 😂

LMFAO – at least most of the folks here and the forum got it!

I was so unaware of this deal I even wrote about it yesterday, after covering it last month as well. I’m now doubting whether or not I’ve been writing for this site since 1999/2000….hmmmm lol

I have moments like this for those who didn’t get it – it helps keep me sane during silly season.
