Neil Warnock has called for Villa boss Martin O’Neill to be the next England boss!

The Irishman, who was close before only to be rejected following an interview, is perfect according to the Crystal Palace boss.

After the 2-2 draw v Villa yesterday, Warnock said:

‘I hope Martin O’Neill is the next manager of England because he has done brilliantly for English football. We should all be proud of him. It’s not easy to buy the English footballers – he’s giving them all games at the top level and they are all blossoming.’

And on Villa game, he added on the Palace official site: ‘The team Martin O’Neill put out was a fabulous compliment to us. We weren’t far away. I can’t explain how proud I am. That’s what makes it so sad. It was a fantastic game. Villa have had to roll their sleeves up today to stay in this cup.’

Not so sure on this, however if Fabio Capello did choose to leave after this world cup (if he wins it, what is the point of sticking around, there is nothing else to achieve?!) then MON would bound to be a name in the frame again but would he – after being snubbed once – be interested?

I must admit, I do think that is the only missing bit to his career, an International job, so who knows, it is – as we’ve been told very reliably by Jimmy Greaves – a funny old game!

What do you think, could you really see a proud Irishman leading out the England team?!
