We Are Not Standing Still

Just at a time when a rabble rousing, heart warming, confidence filling speech was needed; the likes of what that Australian bloke playing a Scotsman in Braveheart achieved, the official site dishes up the following:

‘Our plans are unaffected. Our job now is to continue working towards the new season and every department of this club will do just that.’

Good stuff, my heart was racing until I realised the first words were ‘our plans are unaffected’ as opposed to ‘our plans have changed’.

Moving on:

‘Over the last couple of days we have concluded contract talks with Luke Moore and this clearly shows our preparations continue to progress.’

Only took most of the year, but you can be prepared to accept that contract wranglings between a player who wants more (no pun) and ideas on his career progress and a club who probably wanted him to take a pay cut can be long and drawout.

The gem:

‘We are not standing still.’

Quite right – we’ve been going backwards since Ellis came back to the club. Last season we went backwards from where we were the season before. Our squad has gone backwards in numbers since the same time last year.

Standing still could even be considered progress to a cynic.

I trust the former secretary and current secretary will stay true to their words and do their level best to ensure we not only don’t stand still, but more importantly move forwards during their tenure.
