We Can Handle The Carroll Factor

Roncrete has said he has faith that the Villa backline can handle the danger posed by Andy Carroll in today’s game against West Ham.

Presumably this means they’ll act like men and not women? Although admittedly, I don’t imagine Ron Vlaar being anybodies girlfriend!

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game, our centre half said he believed we could more than deal with Carrolls aerial threat, but he also pointed out we couldn’t let him benefit from our set piece problems.

For those that read the press that’s useful, and not the national sensationalists, they will know our defensive record from corners per se isn’t a problem, it’s the number of corners and free kicks we concede that is the problem.

‘He’s a very good player. We have to face that and deal with it. The cross, we have to stop that already.’

Simple words, but in many ways very apt. We actually have one of the best set piece defenses in the league, but, unlike our league equals we seem to concede four times as many as other clubs – and then we wonder why we suffer?

West Ham will do what their boss does best, be physical…can we per chance not put balls out for corners and maybe even settle for throw ins today?

We’ll soon find out. But you know what you do against a team of thugs – play it around their intelligence – confuse them by playing football. It works everytime.

Can we be man enough to do it?

Up The Villa, and with a bit of help, a marital aid up a couple of co-chairman!

Although credit where it’s due, this time round they are too busy talking about what brilliant owners they are because they want financial constraints, instead of just bitching about Villa and their fans.

Make us proud lads!
