Inevitably, after the devastating defeat in the playoff final, fans are not going to be full of positivity about the club’s future.

Especially with the issue of Financial Fair Play hanging over our heads, it can be difficult to look forward to next season with too much optimism.

However, some fans on Twitter have decided to look towards the future with hope:

Verdict:

I am naturally more of a pessimist than an optimist so while I get that we should not be too downhearted by staying in the Championship for another season, it’s hard not to see the huge ramifications that come with it.

There are some difficult decisions to make on the horizon for Tony Xia and the club. We are not going to be happy with many of them, but as these supporters rightly say, we will hopefully still have a team capable of competing right at the top of the table.

  • We have the players at academy, just lacking a decent coaching system A!B,etc
Clear out the wasters, and those not up to standard. XIA where are you ????

  • I dont see what all the doom and gloom is about At the risk of being stoned to death I believe another season in the Championship is the best thing that can happen to us
    Why?
We have some really good youngsters coming through and they need to play regularly or we are going to lose them So if we blended a side of Elmo Chester Taylor Bree and say Clark/Suliman/Bedau/Axel back on loan
A midflield of Jedi Bjarnason Whelan Adomah Green O’hare Hourihane Jack Doyle-Hayes Lyden Lansbury combined with a strike force of Kodja Davis RHM McKirdy I think we will be OK
We need to add just 2/3 loans or free agents one of which will be a goal keeper and I think we will win the championship
I would sell Hogan the 5 returning loanees give away McCormack and Richards maybe raise between 10 to 13 million from those players and the hole-if there is one- is not so big
We have savings in wages No McCormack Richards JT Samba Gabby Onomah Grabban Johnstone Bunn So overall i dont think this is a trainsmash but a chance to rebuild and get back to where we belong

    • McCormack Richards Hogan no chance we will get off books, no one will match the wages we give them. Here to stay sadly. But I think Hogan at least could come good. Whose value may in turn increase.
