Joe Bennett has said the team owe the fans a performance following our capitulation against Southampton, and he believes we are more than capable of doing that against Manchester City.

Speaking to the Official Site, Bennett called on the team to move on quickly, put the disappointment behind us, and take advantage of our underdog status when we face City in the Cup:

‘The lads were obviously disappointed, we lost some stupid goals. We were down in the dressing room but we have the character to bounce back from this definitely. We want to learn from what happened and move on quickly. We’re going to the Etihad and not many are expecting us to win, that can be a good thing. Hopefully we can go there and do a really good job.’

Bennett added about his first real experience of our fans:

‘Our fans were quality, they came in massive numbers and sang all game. It’s such a shame they had to leave with a disappointing result.’

The City clash is definitely going to be a good test for the team, and it’ll be interesting to see who Lambert leads with.
