Gabby Agbonlahor has said competition for places up front next season will be ‘red hot’ with a returning Darren Bent, and Andy Weimann making his step up to the first team.
Speaking to the Official Site Gabby heaped praise on the young Austrian, who he thinks has a bright future ahead of him, and one that Villa will certainly benefit from.
‘He’s been banging in goals for the reserves and has scored a couple of hattricks for them recently. It’s encouragin for the team that there are a crop of young lads who are hungry and desperate to get in that team which is great for us.’
On the subject of Weimann, the Official Site are carrying a mini career history and photo gallery of his rise through through the ranks if anybody wants to take a short trip down memory lane.
As for Darren Bent, he added that he believes Benty is tough enough to come back stronger from his injury.
‘I am disappointed for him, but these things happen. He’s got a strong mentality, nobody likes to be injured but as long as people can get over them then that is all that matters.’
