Well done Luke Moore.

No bull, no finger pointing and no tame excuses, he has just given the fans exactly the right comments for the ‘crazy’ defeat against Blackburn Rovers saying it is their fault for not putting the chances away. Mr O’Leary, take note.

The 20-year-old striker is out top scorer in the Prem this season with 8 goals and yet was still not due to start on Saturday until James Milner pulled out with stomach cramp. He told the official site:

‘We should’ve got something out of the game because we had enough chances. We played well too so at least we’ve got positives to take out of the game. The aim now it just to create as many chances like that every week. Football’s funny because it’s strange to have lost when we had so many chances. But we’ve only got ourselves to blame and it’s our fault we didn’t get anything from the game because we didn’t take them.’

Adding: ‘Milan (Baros) could’ve had three goals, but at least we’re creating chances. I think the manager would be worried if we weren’t. We’re happy in the respect we’re making opportunities and next time we’ve got to make sure we take them.’

He also says the team are looking to take this form (that is the creating chances, not missing them or fumbling from the goalie!) into tomorrows (Tuesday 14th) FA Cup re-play v Manchester City.
He also explained why he was out on the right – which still mystifies me as he is best up front and Lee Hendrie is an established midfielder but sat on the bench –

‘James Milner was ill so I had to start – albeit out of position – but you just have to be as prepared as possible. Hopefully he’ll be all right for tomorrow night and I don’t have to play there again! We went out to warm up and James started to feel ill, but I’m not sure what it was. I’ll take any start that’s offered to me.’

  • Luke has said what most of us always thought anyway. Refreshing to see he isn’t moaning about playing out of position.

  • Anyone else think Luke should have shot instead of pulling it across for KP? Also, don’t you think Luke is kindda pointing the finger of blame at Milan? Mind games..

  • Definately disagree on the first one, he definately should have shot. KP had a man on him and you gotta have lighting quick reactions when someone plays a ball to you from 2 yards away.

  • ive seen villa a few times with Luke Moore on the right hand side, 2nd halfs recently against Newcastle and Charlton. On both occasions villa really did look pretty good, and Im not surprised that Oleary went for it from the start last weekend. As for Luk

  • Refreshing interview from a young man growing in maturity, and obviously, judging by his comments, not just on the field of play either. Agree with Andrew144, but for his injury woes, a fully fit KP would certainly be our top premiership scorer, and thats
