Over the last few weeks Aston Villa fans have certainly been debating what was up with our little Meatball, John McGinn, as the Scottish international midfielder did appear off the pace and he definitely wasn’t his usual influential self.
The debate certainly seemed to come to a head for many after the heavy 4-1 to Leicester City as a number of fans wanted him rested in case that would do the trick, but he was of course back in the squad for the defeat to Sheffield United.
"We have to give the supporters something to shout about, and that's up to us on Tuesday night." 👊

With Aston Villa taking a break from the Premier League fixture list later this evening as we host Liverpool for the EFL Cup quarter finals at Villa Park – with the expectation we’ll put out a mixed squad given their side will be made up of youth and fringe players – it’s now been reported that McGinn has been carrying a thigh injury (tear) since the last international break, and has been having painkilling injections to get through games in recent times.
Obviously, it means he should miss out tonight and it might be an idea for him to miss the next one and rest up properly and then train properly again, as we can welcome Conor Hourihane back tonight.
For those fans getting concerned, I would imagine that answers a lot of questions.
