My latest blog for The Sun

Well, that was quite a year wasn`t it?!

Villa managed to get themselves relegated, had 40 odd managers (I`m not very good with numbers it has to be said, a defence that didn`t stand up in court when done for speeding!) and a new owner who has taken to twitter like nobody`s business.

The relegation I thought would hurt more than it actually did, maybe because we`d known it was coming for so very long.

The takeover? Well, we will see in years to come but at the moment Tony Xia does seem to have good intentions and has made some great moves – Roberto Di Matteo aside.

We have a top CEO in Keith Wyness and they`ve built a great team around them.

We also have Steve Bruce as manager.

Yes, Steve Bruce. The man we used to tell to sit down and call potato head.

But he`s taken to us and we`ve taken to him. I was all for him coming and talked about him numerous times in my blogs here.

He`s been better than expected though and he`s not even started yet really because he`s working with other managers players.

Oh yes, that`s the other thing, Villa Park is becoming a fortress again.

We are the only team in the Championship who remain unbeaten at home and the last two games the fans have responded with a near sell out (41,337) v Burton Albion on Boxing Day and 37,078 v Leeds United on a freezing cold night on Thursday.

I had about 300 layers on, I looked like I`d been on steroids I was so big! No smiling, this is serious business!

Oh and I was slightly early (I wanted to avoid the traffic but it turns out there was none… did everyone go to a party and not tell me?!)

For the rest including:

All in all though, things were taking shape. We were in the top ten… we have a decent run of fixtures coming up. What could possibly go wrong?

I`ll tell you what. Cardiff City… once again, Villa self destruct. We were abysmal against a very shaky Cardiff City. Awful, awful, awful.
