Ashley Westwood has described Paul Lambert’s training sessions as ‘lightning’ and he thinks it’s the perfect preparation for him as he battles for a first team spot.
Speaking to the Official Site after playing a small part in the first team so far, and to be fair, not having the best of substitute appearances against Southampton, Westwood said he was made to feel right at home as soon as he joined the club, but the difference in training intensity is one thing that took him by surprise:
‘Training is lightning, that is the big thing I noticed. It’s so intense and every day you have got to be on it. You can’t afford to cruise through training here.’
Hopefully the speed and intensity of the training will help him settle into the pace of the Premier League quicker for when he gets his next chance from the bench.
As to how he settled into the club, he added:
‘The lads have been brilliant. It has felt like home straight away, I’ve been made to feel really welcome. They have all been welcoming but I sit next to Matthew Lowton so he is the one that I’ve spoken to more.’
He also talked about his debut a little and being involved, but he knows he has to push on and continue to develop so he can make the most of every chance that comes his way.
