What An Embarrassing Crock Of A Cup Exit For Villa

Earlier this evening a much changed Aston Villa side took to the pitch to face Burton Albion in the second round of this year’s EFL Cup.

Heading to the Pirelli Stadium for another meeting with the Brewer’s, manager Steve Bruce certainly rotated the pack after our Championship start to the year and as expected John McGinn and Jack Grealish were missing but hopefully, they will return for the next one.

It was very much a case of over to others to impress and I think it’s fair to say nobody did.

A goalless first half was the highpoint after it took both sides 41 minutes to register a single shot – that honour fell to Axel Tuanzebe and he missed. In fact, the only real action was two substitutions from Burton owing to injury.

Second half, they took the lead in the 52nd minute and we managed to get one shot on target until they were reduced to ten men in minute 89, but typical of the day, Albert Adomah missed the resulting penalty as the keeper made the save.

And that’s the end of our EFL Cup campaign and given I wish I hadn’t wasted my night, I feel sorry for those who made the small trip for it!

Maybe those watching it have some positives?
