Vital Villa asked in our last poll:

Which striker would you prefer at Villa?

Darren Bent from Spurs got 33% of the vote. Recent reports suggested that Sunderland had a £14million bid for him turned down as Spurs want to recoup the £16.5million they paid Charlton for his services.

Fellow Spur who had a quick dash to and from Liverpool last season Robbie Keane got 12%

Barcelona and former Chelsea (and to be fair Bolton) player Eidur Gudjohnsen attracted 10% of the vote. The press talk this morning suggested Barca might allow him to leave for £5million with West Ham being favourites to get his signature.

England and Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch got just 6% of the vote.

That left 39% not liking any of the selections available… for that I can only apologise!! :o)

Some did ask why Tuncay wasn’t in there also but I’ve always looked at his as an attacking midfielder rather than an out and out striker?!

A thread in the forum (Click Here) on Stewart Downing currently has 79 votes in favour and just 14 against the signing of the Boro and England winger:

So who else would you want to see striker wise? Some reports are saying that Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar who was set to join Stuttgart but prefers a move to the Premiership. Hmmm?!

Or do you think we’ve enough strikers and are ok for the new season as we are?

Our latest poll asks what you think about the Downing signature (bearing in mind it is yet to be announced yet as a done deal but should be close!)

Great Villa t-shirts right here!
