Whittingham Set To Leave

The Vital Barnsley website has reported that their (Barnsley that is, not the vital site) bid for Peter Whittingham has been rejected, and it’s believed that he will sign elsewhere this week.

Whittingham is currently being chased by a host of clubs from the Football League, including former giants Nottingham Forest, our poor neighbours Wolves and Sunderland, who may just sign him, meaning he gets to continue working with current manager David O`leary (we can hope!)

With a bit of luck we might get around the £500k mark for the winger, who has struggled to breakthrough properly in the way that some of the other young lions have done so.

After being rejected by Coventry City for being ‘too small,’ Whittingham signed for Villa and eventually (somehow!) managed to churn out 62 appearances for the club with loan spells at both Burnley and Derby. A ‘beefed up’ version of Whittingham came back last season determined to make it, it now appears he has played his last game for Aston Villa. All the best Peter!
