Who Should Be The Next Villa Skipper?

Martin O’Neill says he hasn’t made a decision on who will be Villa’s captain yet and will delay for a while longer.

He told the official site:

‘There are quite a few candidates at the club and perhaps others not yet at the club.’

The ones most are talking about are former West Ham skipper Nigel Hokey-Cokey or Martin Laursen.

O’Neill added, ‘There are a number of people on the list and Martin Laursen would certainly be one of the names I’d be thinking about. He was terrific last season. There are a number of people who would want it but there are a number of people who are on my list who might not want it. I haven’t discussed it yet. There are quite a few candidates at the club and perhaps others not yet at the club. So that’s something I’ll look at further down the line.’

Or maybe the replacement for Gareth Barry will be from one of many (hopefully) new arrivals?

‘We’re looking to really bolster the numbers because we’re right down in numbers at this minute. We need to strengthen and we intend to strengthen and we’re strongly in the market for the players.’

Who would you go for? (I’ll ask in our next poll but as we’ve only just started the Sidwell poll, thought I’d best leave it there a while!)
