Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by 26.05.82

What do you prefer formation wise?

4-5-1 won with a massive majority of 75%

12% voted ‘whatever MON wants!’ and 11% liked the 4-3-3.

That left just 2% backing the traditional 4-4-2 for Villa.

MON meanwhile told the official site ( ) that the it is players not formations that win games. He said: “People can get carried away with formations. In this day and age, everyone seems to have a view, more so than ever before, with phone-ins and the internet. The truth is eventually winning football matches boils down to players. Of course you go out with a strategy and a plan and you set off with a formation. But the teams who are able to be flexible and change their tactics will be successful.”

Can’t understand why MON thinks it is just these days that everyone has an opinion on football, since the birth of the game it has always been that way, just that most know only one person’s opinion (no, not mine, the managers silly!) counts!

Our latest poll asks who should be Villa’s penalty taker?

I can never understand why the strikers don’t step up to the plate for penalties, you’d think they would relish the chance to add to their goal tally wouldn’t you? And yet none of ours seem to be that keen when push comes to shove (the pushing and shoving is how we get the penalty by the way… it’s ok, not much of an article here so I thought I’d dance a little dance to fill it … shouldn’t really be giving away these ever so expert tips on how to be a web twerp, damn, meant editor)

Judging by Ashley Young not being willing to take the second v Rapid the other week and instead handing the ball to Milner, I’d say Milner is now in line to be our number one penalty taker and I don’t think the lad will let us down to be honest.
