Fresh from the back of eight wins on the spin and victory without Jack Grealish, Aston Villa made the trip to the University of Bolton Stadium to face struggling Bolton Wanderers.

Given the season they have had, stuck in 23rd place in the Championship table on 32 points, on paper this was an easy victory given the form we are in and plenty are optimistic the full-time whistle will give us our ninth win on the spin after we matched our April 1975 record.

This is the Villa though, we haven’t done the easy thing for a few years now and victory would confirm their relegation to League One.

Despite largely dominating the first half, we went in goalless but Jack Grealish quickly improved in the second period and gave us the advantage two minutes after the restart. Jack had a hand in the second goal as well and repaid Tammy Abraham for his earlier assist to make it 2-0, putting his head in where it hurts, in the 57th minute.

Dare Villa fans dream of nine in a row for the first time since 1910 I believe? 30 mins to find out but sadly we’d have to do it without Tammy who damaged his shoulder is now an obvious concern.

Time for Keinan Davis to step up?

Well, he should’ve scored really but Bolton has little to offer and we saw the remaining time out with ease.

Nine on the spin, can we make it ten and Bolton are down.
