According to Portuguese outlet Record, Aston Villa are among the clubs looking at goalkeeper Quentin Beunardeau who is currently at CD Aves.

The stopper is in his mid-20s and has apparently caught the eye of the Villans, as well as of the likes of former manager Steve Bruce at Sheffield Wednesday.

It makes you wonder, though, whether we actually need him.

The Villans have been good in recent weeks and that is in no small part to an improved defence.

Tyrone Mings and Kortney Hause are taking all the plaudits, too, but in Jed Steer we have a solid goalkeeper who actually hasn’t done a lot wrong since coming into the side.

Indeed, I’d feel really sorry for Steer if he was shown the bench once again because he has deserved his chance and has taken it.

This story might be wide of the mark, of course, but it is still a concern and I see little need for Villa to upset the apple cart when we have apparently got things sorted at last.
