Why Isn’t Andre Green Playing?

I`ve been searching for news on Andre Green to find out why he`s not played in the last few games following his return from injury.

Turns out he is still struggling with that injury, the hamstring to be exact, which he picked up late on after a stunning performance v Bristol City. (You might remember a stunner of a shot from him that hit the woodwork?) According to Bruce the hamstring was pulled the match before v Derby County where he came off on the 75th minute, but he did then manage 86 mins v Bristol.

Originally he was set to return for the Wigan game, however that was delayed until the last few minutes of the next match where he came on as a sub v Norwich. He then got the last five minutes v QPR and hasn`t featured since.

Boss Steve Bruce is said in The Birmingham Mail of the upcoming local derby: “He wasn`t comfortable with his hamstring that he pulled against Derby five weeks ago after suffering a recurrence so I can`t see him being involved on Sunday.” Adding, “(It wouldn`t be right) to use him in such a big game like that as he`s struggling.”

Meanwhile left back Neil Taylor is struggling with a groin injury he picked up in training and according to Bruce will be ‘touch and go`.

Such a shame for Andre, he`s looked the real deal in his limited time on the pitch this season and I`m sure would have continued to feature following some stunning appearances if not for this injury. He`s a great promise for our future though and it would be ironic if one of our least hyped youth players ends up doing what the others seem to fail to do, and really cement their place in the first team.

Hopefully a future hero, goodness knows we could do with some.
