2big4seatswannastand says Wilfred Bouma. Good news, bad news!

Whilst perusing the Euro 2012 international squads, in order to select yet another ‘dream team’ in the hope I can be top dog and win a few quid, I was very pleasantly surprised to see the name Wilfred Bouma listed.

I like many others had believed that the reason he was not offered a new contract at the end of the 2009-10 season, was that he would be unable to regain the required level of fitness to prolong his career. Further research revealed that he has managed 53 appearances for PSV since leaving Villa, and has indeed forced his way back into the Dutch squad.

As Freddie was one of my favourite players, I wish him well for the forthcoming tournament, and his progress and that Olof Mellberg, will give me some interest after the England lads are back in the UK. However one has to question our medical staff, for the decision to let him go.

We could’ve had Freddie for the last two years instead of Warnock! But the good news far outweighs the bad and let’s hope Freddie can carry on playing for many more games before he hangs up his boots.
