Wilfred ‘Freddy’ Bouma Glad To Be Back

Oooh, how nice, a non controversial and positive bit of news! :o)

Wilfred Bouma last night managed 90 minutes as the Villa reserves beat Chelsea 4-3.

Freddy dislocated his ankle in a most horrific fashion (I was in line with it and it really didn’t look nice!) during the Inter Two Bob (oh God, don’t mention Europe!) game v Odense back in July and has fought to get back to fitness since.

He told the official site: ‘It was really great to be back.’

Adding, ‘I managed to get a full 90 minutes under my belt and I’m glad my ankle held up and I didn’t get any kind of reaction. That was pleasing.’

He also says it was a great test for him as it was a high tempo game.

‘What pleased me was that it felt so natural to be out there playing – even though I have been out of action for many months. And the fans were tremendous – they were cheering and chanting my name – it was really great.’

Welcome back Freddy, hopefully it won’t be long before we see you in the first team, be ready for a heroes reception!

Nigel Hokey-Cokey was also back (on the bench) v Stoke on Sunday, so we have a few options returning, now we just need Martin Laursen to recover quickly from his knee operation and all will be sunny in the garden again!
