I doubt there are few Villa fans not aware of the now ongoing saga involving John Terry and the will he, won’t he return to Villa Park this season debate.

With plenty taking strong hints from his social media pages that he was set for a return to B6 to bolster manager Steve Bruce’s threadbare defence after what can only be considered as a failure over the summer transfer window, this week had seen strong links to Russian Side Spartak Moscow surface and Terry did make the trip leaving many to presume that he wasn’t set for a return.

Late yesterday evening though it was being reported that he had in fact turned down a contract with the side, and of course, that kick started links with us again.

Terry himself explained that after talking the move over with his family it was decided it wasn’t the right move for them at ‘this time’ and it’s fair to say some have taken that as he was simply being professional and hearing them out and was always set for us. Others take a different viewpoint and believe he was only paying lip service in his recent Villa related interviews and if his desire to return was genuine, a deal would’ve been done weeks ago.

By the time this comes out on timer a deal may have been concluded. It probably won’t be and we undoubtedly need someone in at the back, I’m just bored of this being a soap-opera with so many instalments.

  • You are not alone, I cant see why its so difficult its yes or no !
Much as I would like him back, surely it should have been done 2 or 3 weeks previously, giving the International Break to work on Match fitness.

  • He could have no legs and he would be better than Jedi at CB and also allow Chester to play right side.

Personally, I would prefer to see Tuanzebe starting with Chester and Bree or Bedeau as the back up.

  • Can anyone show me one thing that shows AVFC are actually considering JT? Seen tweets from him about unfinished business etc, but nothing from club or even sources close to club that say we are interested?
Given the youth with promise policy from the owners and the logical need to get him in sooner, I fear this is all Thiery Henry-esk clic bait

  • SB wants JT back and JT has made it clear that he wants to come as well. Fact is though that our new owners, quite correctly, made it clear that they made young players their priority. Problem is that SB is incapable of working with and developing young players. Only one conclusion …
