Will Villa Cut Blades Down To Size?

Right, I’ve been too lazy this season to do match previews, so lets get straight down to business!

Our latest poll asks what Villa will do against Sheffield United on Monday (kick off 8pm, Sky)

Mark Lawrenson says on the BBC:

Aston Villa have been excellent and have played way above themselves, which is in a large part because of their manager Martin O’Neill.

But Sheffield United can see a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel now and they have made quite a few chances in the last few games at home. They realise that it is their home form which could keep them up so I’m going to go a little along the lines of a shock.

Prediction: 2-1

Mystic Mug however is saying Villa will win the game 2-1 despite the loss of inspirational skipper Gareth Barry who has picked up five yellow cards and therefore serves a one match ban. Naughty boy.

Meanwhile 33-year-old striker Chris Sutton might be back in contention. Martin O’Neill said: ‘Chris trained on Thursday and Friday and we will have to wait until the weekend to see whether or not he has had any reaction but it is encouraging for us that he has trained. Will I put him in? Monday night is a long way away and we will see what develops. But he has done very well for us when he has started the games. I will have a look at it.’

So what do you think, will we cut the blades down to size or will we slip up at Brammall Lane?
