Right, I’ve been too lazy this season to do match previews, so lets get straight down to business!

Our latest poll asks what Villa will do against Sheffield United on Monday (kick off 8pm, Sky)

Mark Lawrenson says on the BBC:

Aston Villa have been excellent and have played way above themselves, which is in a large part because of their manager Martin O’Neill.

But Sheffield United can see a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel now and they have made quite a few chances in the last few games at home. They realise that it is their home form which could keep them up so I’m going to go a little along the lines of a shock.

Prediction: 2-1

Mystic Mug however is saying Villa will win the game 2-1 despite the loss of inspirational skipper Gareth Barry who has picked up five yellow cards and therefore serves a one match ban. Naughty boy.

Meanwhile 33-year-old striker Chris Sutton might be back in contention. Martin O’Neill said: ‘Chris trained on Thursday and Friday and we will have to wait until the weekend to see whether or not he has had any reaction but it is encouraging for us that he has trained. Will I put him in? Monday night is a long way away and we will see what develops. But he has done very well for us when he has started the games. I will have a look at it.’

So what do you think, will we cut the blades down to size or will we slip up at Brammall Lane?

  • A tough one, but aint they all. I’m looking for a draw at best. They’ve found a bit of form, and while last season a Villa defeat would have been a formality in this fixture, I’m hoping for a point. Would obviously be delighted to see us take all three, that would certainly crush the growing ‘Villa’s bubble has burst’ theorists.

  • We are going to have a very good day. I believe we will have had some pretty good training sessions and are DUE a win. Agbon’ to score two with Davis popping up for a third. “Trust me Doureaux – I know what I’m doing” – worked for Sledgehammer!!!!!

  • How can we be considering anything less than a win? Come on guys, this is Sheffield UTD, premiership minnows against the mighty Villa, defeated only once on the road this season including trips to Arsenal and Chelski. 3-1 Villa!!!!

  • VOTH. Wish I could agree, but think this is one of those ‘banana skin’ games and will be happy with a point.

  • A tough one to call as we never do that well against the more direct teams, but at the end of the day its Sheff Utd for gods sake! 3 points.

  • It is a tough game BUT if we really want to be contenders, we have to go to places like this, out battle them and take the points home. We’ve let a good few catch us now, 9th is our lowest, a nice 3 points and up we go again. Especially crucial with the Manure and Chelski games coming up.

  • This is the premiership, top football division in the world, there are no easy matches, BUT this is Villa on the up, no contest, the mighty Villa to hand out a mighty spanking, Petrov scoring as the faithfull sing his new chant, UTV

  • Lawrenson is a muppet, it is just down to jealousy, as hard as he tries he just cannot grow facial hair to match the great bearded one, which must be devastating, along with the fact that he couldn’t get the rims off MONs car due to locking wheel nuts. calls himself a honorary scouser!!!

  • Stop calling us ‘direct’! Did any of you lot watch us last season in the championship? Read article on our page!

  • I know what you’re saying Chris, always thought that myself, look in the dictionary under DIRECT and there they are sheffield united. UTV

  • We do play some decent stuff on our travels, but are let down by very poor finishing. We never put away the half chances.
