• Contains full match stats, player profiles and a year-on-year look at The Villa, fully illustrated throughout with full colour features

• A must-have for all Villa fans

Aston Villa – The Complete Record first appeared in 1988, the centenary year of the Football League and the season in which the club won promotion back to the top flight. A second edition was published in 1992, just as the Premier League came into existence.

Now, 18 years later, Villa supporters can look forward to a brand new edition of The Complete Record, one which will bring the club`s story right up to the end of an eventful 2009-10 campaign.

The new book, published by Derby Books, isn`t merely an update of the previous two editions. Authors Rob Bishop and Frank Holt have combined their vast knowledge of the club to produce a completely fresh volume.

Rob is the editor of the Villa News & Record, while Frank, who contributes a regular column to the programme, is a highly-respected historian who is a member of the Association of Football Statisticians.

The book will include a resume of every season since Villa`s formation; detailed grids showing the appearances, goal scorers and attendances of every competitive campaign; profiles of more than 150 of Villa`s leading players; a spotlight on all the club`s managers, from Jimmy McMullan to Martin O`Neill; a selection of Matches to Remember – and much more.

All of the club`s Premier League seasons are featured, and the book will be illustrated with photos from the Villa Archives, making Aston Villa: The Complete Record an indispensible guide to a great football club.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Rob Bishop is editor of the Villa News & Record, the club`s official match-day programme. He joined the club in 2001, having previously covered their fortunes for various newspapers – the Birmingham Mail, Sports Argus and Birmingham Post. He began covering Villa just before the club`s relegation to the old Second Division in May 1987 but has subsequently enjoyed their promotion back to the top flight, numerous ventures into Europe and four Wembley Finals.

Frank Holt is a lifelong Villa supporter, having attended his first match at Villa Park in February 1954 – a 2-2 draw against Huddersfield Town. From the moment he saw Villa in action, Frank also developed an interest in statistics. A Life Member of the Association of Football Statisticians, he became established as their Villa ‘expert’ 30 years ago. Since 2004 he had written a regular column for the Villa News & Record, based on his vast knowledge of the club
