Late yesterday evening it was confirmed that Aston Villa had signed Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kortney Hause on a loan spell until the end of the current 2018/19 campaign.
The 23-year-old came through Wycombe Wanderers’ youth setup, making a total of 31 appearances for them, scoring twice, before he made the move to the Molineux back in January 2014 and in his time at our now ‘wannabe’ rivals, he’s made 74 starting appearances, with a further six showings from the substitutes bench. He’s also chipped in with two goals and has two EFL Cup appearances to his name this season.
He featured four times for them last year when they won the Championship title and he has been one of the casualties of their spending when it comes to game time given how highly rated he has been for the last few years.
It should be a solid capture from where we sit in many ways based on what I know of the lad.
It also marks a significant turn in our transfer business, as although it is a loan deal, it’s being reported that Chief Executive Officer Christian Purslow only sanctioned the move once it was agreed we had a buy clause in place if all works out so we take care of ourselves, and not other clubs when it comes to the future.
Speaking to the Official Site, our gaffer said of his capture.
“We’re very pleased to have brought in someone with Kortney’s quality. With experience of playing at this level, he’ll be an important addition to our defensive options.”
The centre-half has been given the number 30 shirt for the remainder of the campaign.
