Next up in the End Of Season Awards (more fun than the actual season this is!) is the worst game of the season award. Blimey, we had a few to choose from didn’t we?
With 2% of the votes we have West Ham games home and away (1-2 and 0-4), the Everton away match (4-1) and the Arsenal away game (5-0).
Next up we have all the games against Manchester City with 7% of the votes. We lost 1-3 away, drew 1-1 in the FA Cup at home but had them all over us with possession and passion, then they beat us 2-1 at the City of Manchester Stadium to progress in the FA Cup and rounded off a miserable season against them beating us 1-0 at Villa Park.
26% voted for the League Cup humiliation against Doncaster who from start to finish taught our Premiership boys a lesson in how to go about a cup match. The end result a shocking 3-0 and more excuses from the manager.
But the overall winner, which should give Ellis, O’Leary and the players cause for alarm, was a massive 61% vote for the season in its entirety. A season that has seen us finish with our lowest ever points tally in the Premiership – 42 – and just ten wins in total (12 draws, 16 losses). 16th despite the claim that we are budgeted as a top ten club.
