A young Villa reserves team started their pre-season in style with a 6-2 win over Boldmere St Michaels…which was nice!

VILLA: Barrett, Barton, Devine, Donacien, Cameron, Grealish, Ward, Melvin, Johnson, Burke, Drennan. Subs: Hill, Kinsella, Lewis, Watkins, Williams, Nelson.

No surprise really when you see that the legend that is Sid Cowans is the coach.

He said on www.avfc.co.uk after the game:

‘We’re very pleased with the lads. You can’t fault the quality, their attitude and their application. We had a go at a new system that we haven’t had long working on over the past couple of days. If you saw the Burton Albion game the other day, it mirrors what the first team do, pressing high up the pitch.”

Pressing play? Attacking football? In fact, FOOTBALL FULL STOP.

What is going on at Villa these days, this will never do!

He also pointed out Michael Drennan for special praise for his hat-trick.

Great stuff.
