19-year-old Aston Villa Academy graduate Kaine Kesler Hayden has a very good breakthrough year in the 2021/22 campaign. The highly rated youngster spent the first half of the year out on loan with League Two side Swindon Town and after heavily impressing in their FA Cup clash with Manchester City, we pulled him back in January and sent him out for a League One test with MK Dons – where he also impressed.

34 starts, two goals, two assists and four substitute appearances in your maiden professional campaign is certainly not too shabby at all, and having featured for head coach Steven Gerrard during our 2022/23 pre season build up, Kesler Hayden headed out for a Championship test on Friday afternoon, as the club confirmed he had now joined up with Terrier like Huddersfield Town for the remainder of the year.

Having not looked out of place at either League One or League Two level, it’ll be interesting to see how quickly he adapts to the more physical second tier and although some fans wanted him to remain with us as back up to Matty Cash (proof of how highly rated he actually is for his tender years), this spell will be absolutely key in finding out just how quickly he could be fast tracked in the coming years.
