Zat Knight has been talking about his first season at his home team of Aston Villa following last seasons surprise move from Fulham.

‘I had a really good start and to score on my debut against Chelsea – and at home – was fantastic. But then I picked up a suspension in the return against Chelsea, was out for a while which was frustrating and disappointing, but Curtis Davies did well and took his chance until he got injured. I came back in and had one or two below-par games. But overall in the last few games I think I’ve done well.’

Nice to see a bit of honesty from the player, he did have a few stinkers!

He also admits to being a life long Villa fan standing on the old Holte End terraces and now wants to emulate the European years he watched, mentioning the Milan win (on penalties)

‘I’ve always wanted to play for Aston Villa and to achieve the dream is a great feeling. To do it Europe would be something special.’

Who knows, come the end of play today, we might all have that dream back… COME ON NEWCASTLE and COME ON VILLA!
