It was another hugely frustrating and deeply disappointing day for Aston Villa on Saturday as we made the trip to the DW Stadium to face Wigan Athletic.

With some frustrating results over the festive and New Year period, head coach Dean Smith would’ve been looking for improvements and for us to get back to winning ways after the Swansea City defeat, but Villa were again at their worst in this one.

Having failed to register a single shot on target in the game, it’s back to back heavy defeats now as we lost out to a 3-0 scoreline and most fans know, given the performance, we can have few complaints.

Statistics website Whoscored had their work cut out for them in finding a Man of the Match after that shambles, and plenty of fans certainly won’t agree with who they gave their top rating to.

The top five on the day were completed by Neil Taylor (6.30), Anwar El Ghazi (6.24), Albert Adomah (6.20) and goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic (6.17). Tied on 6.17 also were Birkir Bjarnason and Tammy Abraham, but there are no positives from this one that I can see.

If I really grope for one, Smith must be coming to conclusions about some of the players and if a decision on their future isn’t close for January, it should be.
